Insurance, Safety & Compliance

Professional, safe and fully covered

At Norwich Drones, every flight is planned and carried out with safety, legality and reliability in mind. Whether working on property, commercial projects or local sites, we operate to professional standards from start to finish.

We hold £1,000,000 aviation third-party liability insurance, covering all drone operations for peace of mind on every job.

This covers potential damage or injury to third parties during drone operations and ensures all work is protected under recognised aviation insurance standards.

  • Aviation liability cover
  • Professional indemnity
  • Policy compliant with EU aviation insurance regulations

Proof of insurance can be provided on request.

Every job is properly assessed before take-off.

We consider:

  • Location and surroundings
  • Airspace restrictions
  • Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSIs)
  • Nearby people and structures
  • Privacy and sensitive areas
  • Wildlife and any protected species esp. during nesting season
  • Weather conditions
  • Safe take-off and landing zones

We operate strictly within CAA regulations and within the Open Category A1 rules, and maintain visual line of sight (VLOS) at all times. For night operations, aircraft have downward-facing green strobe lighting switched on during recording and during the full flight to ensure visibility and compliance.

Flights are carefully planned in advance, including route design and positioning.

For longer routes, flights are carefully divided into stages. Pre-set hover points and waypoints allow us to reposition between segments while maintaining continuous VLOS. They also help us restart a shot from the same position in the sky during a separate flight, with the final sequence joined smoothly in post-production.

This keeps each flight safe, compliant, and focused on capturing exceptional aerial footage.

*The Norwich Temporary Danger Area (TDA) wording has been updated as of 22 May 2026.

**Flights within the Norwich Airport FRZ (including above Anglia Square) are only carried out with prior permission from Norwich Airport Air Traffic Control.

We take a straightforward, professional approach to every project:

  • Clear communication before and during the job
  • Safe, controlled flight operations
  • Respect for privacy and surroundings
  • Reliable delivery of footage and images

All work is carried out using modern, well-maintained drone equipment, operated carefully to deliver stable, high-quality aerial visuals while maintaining safety at all times.

If required, we can provide:

  • Proof of insurance
  • Risk assessments
  • Method statements (RAMS)
